Tension in Delta as Sedco, Enerhen communities clash over killing of commercial boat rider

There is tension in Delta State as Sedco and Enerhen communities in Uvwie and Udu Local Government Areas are set for war over the alleged killing of an unidentified commercial boat rider.

It was gathered that the unidentified boat rider was allegedly clubbed to death with sticks and his remains thrown into the river behind Evock Yard by some youths from Sedco community, allegedlyled by one Hezekaiah. Trouble started when youths from Enerhen community demanded the release of the remains of the unidentified commercial boat rider for burial from their Sedco counterpart .

The incident sparked off serious arguments as Sedco community insisted that the remains ill be buried at the bank of the river.The arguments degenerated into serious fighting between the two communities where in the process two persons from Sedco community, Mamus and Ruona were seriously injured.

Members of Enerhen community left with a promise to return back for serious war with their counterparts if they fail to provide Hezekaiah, the prime suspect and alleged killer of the boat rider and hand over the remains of the member to them for burial.The Enerhen Divisional Police Officer, CSP Hassan Galadima stated that the matter was not reported in the station.

Galadima stated however that,” All I know as tradition demands, if a person dies in the river, the body is buried at the bank of the river. You don’t take it away but the matter was not reported here. If it had, we would have taken serious action.”Biafra: We will attack Nigeria if Nnamdi Kanu is not released within one month
