The Benson Idahosa University has announced
on its website that it will on the 23rd of October, 2015 hold a
Special Convocation Ceremony for the award of Honourary Doctorate Degree in
Divinity to the Founding President of Believers’ Loveworld Incorporated a.k.a
Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. The event is scheduled to hold at the
University Auditorium at 10am.
The University which started operating as a fully licensed
institution in March 2002 was the brain child of the late Archbishop Benson
Idahosa, a Charismatic Pentecostal preacher, and founder of the Church of God
Mission International with headquarters in Benin City, Nigeria. As the first
Pentecostal Archbishop in Nigeria, he was renowned for his robust faith.
Pastor Chris on the other hand is known for his
multifaceted Christ Embassy church with a strong teaching and healing ministry.
It was recently revealed however that the flamboyant pastor secretly impacts
the lives of several children through his InnerCity Missions for Children NGO said to cater for over 10,000 children in Nigeria. Another laudable social work by the man of
God is the commissioning of 95 solar-powered street lights on
10 streets of the campus of the Ambrose Alli University, Edo State, Nigeria. It
would be recalled that the A.A.U which incidentally is his Alma Mater recently
conferred a honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc) degree on the BLW President,
Pastor (Dr) Chris Oyahilome PhD.
At the A.A.U Conferment Ceremony, the attendants
discovered that the fully air
conditioned LoveWorld Multipurpose Auditorium venue for the ceremony was
actually donated to the university along with a standby generator by the
honouree. Pastor Chris, described as "a philanthropist” and “humane man of
God" during investiture ceremony pledged then to do everything he can to
continue to be of help to the institution.
It can therefore be said that the planned honorary
Doctorate Degree by the Benson Idahosa University is going to a well deserved
citizen and as the Pro-Chancellor A.A.U, Prof Gregory Akenzua stated during the
special convocation ceremony held in June this year, Pastor Chris was not being
honoured simply because of his acts of love and beneficence to the University
“but for what he has been able to do for souls in every nook and cranny of the
world”. Indeed this is a minister worthy of emulation.
