Trending: Adamu Mu’azu quits as PDP chairman

Embattled chairman of the ousted Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu has resigned.

Although the social media savvy politician has not broken the news either on his official Facebook or Twitter accounts, various reports said he quit this morning by handing over his letter to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The resignation has not been officially confirmed, but one report said he may not be the only prominent
PDP member to quit the party. Also being rumoured to have resigned was Chief Tony Anenih, the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, who may also announce his retirement from politics.
Members of the party’s National Working Committee, being accused of undermining the elections that saw the opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari thumping the incumbent, are also expected to resign their positions.
Mu’azu has been at the receiving end of many attacks by some PDP hawks calling for his head, since the 28 March election, which the PDP lost. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State at one time accused Mu’azu, former governor of Bauchi state to have secretly worked for President-elect Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress.
Just yesterday, another PDP hawk, Femi Fani-Kayode also threatened to expose Mu’azu, alleging that some two moles within the NWC undermined President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election chances.
Mu’azu’s resignation had gone viral on Tuesday, but he denied doing so. But this morning, one Adeyanju Deji, who posts frequently on his Twitter handle said he has made a confirmation that he dropped a quit letter today.
A deputy chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, has stepped in as acting chairman, reports said.
