As an evangelist, Life Care activist, motivational speaker and prolific Writer of Eastern Origin who lived in the North for 28 years, let the truth be told that an average Igbo man has no problem with an Hausa man. The Hausa man is the most sincere business partner to an Igbo business man. The average Northerner is hospitable and honest. The Igbo man on the other hand makes a home out of every strange land and does his best to develop the place.
Except for the challenges of religious extremism by some and greed on the part of some others, the major challenge we have in Nigeria is the selfish interest of our politicians who hide under the umbrella of religion and tribe to divide us. Yet these ungodly leaders are united in their greed and selfish ambitions . As a Nigerian who believes in the sanctity for human life , justice and equity, I believe that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I believe in one Nation called Nigeria where tribe, marginalization, injustice and ethnicity must give way to true federalism. But where we make it impossible, let there be the creation of multiple Federation where every geopolitical zone should go back to tackle its peculiar challenges in the best way they think. Unless we achieve true federalism, agitation for Biafra or any other republic is inevitable. However the following words of wisdom will help us find away forward.
1. NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT MUST RESPECT THE RIGHT FOR SELF DETERMINATION.
It is wrong to deny people their right for self determination. Every tribe or region must be allowed to express their feelings , grievances and suggestions. Classifying IPOB as a terrorist organizations is laughable and misrepresents Nigeria before international community.
2. THE PRESIDENT MUST GIVE ROOM FOR DIALOGUE.
Since President Buhari fell sick, I have been very careful with how I react to national issues. The reason is that a sick leader needs prayers , good will from his people and the Mercy of God. But let me point out here that until now the president has never given room or invited these agitators for a dialogue. Sending soldiers to dance Python Dance is not dialogue. intimidating , killing or imprisonment of agitators never ends agitation. Over one million Igbos died during the Nigeria - Biafra war, yet it has not put an end to agitation.
3. AGITATORS MUST HAVE RESPECT FOR CONSTITUTED AUTHORITY AND OTHER TRIBES
It is important to point out the fact that there are so much of insults and abuses on persons, authorities and tribes. No body is comfortable with insults no matter how mature. IPOB , Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators can agitate without insulting the Hausas and Yorubas, they can agitate without insulting their governors, police, army or the president. Provocative languages do not bring about freedom .
4. AGITATE TO BE ALIVE
I believe that someone may die for the cause he chose to fight. But while some deaths are heroic, others are cowardice. It is important to avoid avoidable deaths . There is no wisdom confronting armoured tanks with cutlass and bottles. We must suffer to actualize our goals but we must be wise not to be used by blood sucking politicians who are not ready to lay down their Lives for their followers.
5. WE MUST CORRECT THE MISTAKES WE MAKE AS IGBOS
It is a mistake to have allowed MOSOB Chase away census officials in Enugu claiming we are not Nigerians. Till now we are being shortchanged as a result. It will even be tragic to oppose gubernatorial election in Anambra state or else where as we shall face the consequences.
Let us channel our grievance in and through the appropriate channels.
There are over two million Igbos living in the North. We must not endanger their lives in the name of Biafra
Let us know that Israel, America, Britain or any other nation on earth do not love us more than they love themselves. We must not allow them use us to destroy us.
6. LET US SEEK FOR DIVINE INTERVENTION
There are invisible powers manipulating the affairs of Nigeria. No matter our human efforts , it will take God for Nigeria to survive. Even our agitation for BIAFRA, can never be a reality if God has no hands in it. We must all join hands and pray the will of God into reality for us as individuals and as a nation. We must prayerfully avert bloodshed from our nation.
