A former Speaker of the House of Representatives and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Aminu Masari, has emerged the winner of the governorship election in Katsina State.
Masari polled 907,056 votes to take over the state from the Peoples Democratic Party. The PDP came second with 557,826 votes. The All Progressives Grand Alliance was third with 100,040 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Movement had 25,842 votes. The President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, is from Daura area of Katsina State.
