APC Governors hold crucial meeting over Buhari’s health

The National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will
today meet with the 24 state Governors under the umbrella of the Progressive Governors forum to deliberate on the continued absence of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and the lingering internal crisis rocking the party ahead of the planned non-elective national convention in April.

Sources close to the party confirmed that the meeting, which holds at the APC secretariat in Abuja is at the instance of the embattled APC National Working Committee (NWC) which wanted to meet with the governors, so as the lobby them and secure their confidence ahead of its planned national convention.

It would be recalled that a similar meeting which was, however, convened by the Governor Rochas Okorocha-led progressive governors’ forum could not hold two weeks ago, following a mass boycott by the governors and Acting Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. It was also gathered that the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC was not happy with the current relegated position which his leadership has been forced to play in the current federal government, hence he has allegedly sought the support of the APC governors.
