1.The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the N30, 000 monthly stipends for beneficiaries of the N-Power scheme -the job creation programme of the Buhari presidency. According to the presidential Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande, all successfully verified beneficiaries who had provided bank accounts were being processed for payment today.
2. Some unknown gunmen have kidnapped a traditional ruler in Kogi, Alhaji Isah Achuja, the Ohi of Ajaokuta. The gunmen are said to be demanding for N20m as ransom from the victim’s family.
3. The Kaduna Polytechnic Academic Staff Union, ASUP, has embarked on an indefinite strike over alleged misappropriation of N260 million and non-payment of 5 months peculiar academic and hazard allowance arrears.
ASUP said the level of impunity, corruption and direct stealing of public funds in Kaduna polytechnic was alarming, hence their decision to down tools.
4. The Nigerian Army has announced that it has recovered one AK47 assault rifle and uniforms belonging to DSP Mohammed Alkali and his police orderly allegedly beheaded by cultists.
Maj.-Gen. Kasimu Abdulkarim, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Port Harcourt, who made the disclosure, said that troops from the Division recovered the items during a raid on four militant camps and cultist’s hideouts in Ujju community near Omoku.
5. The Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), has confirmed that former trustees of his ministry and not him invested $5million in a ponzi scheme.
Ashimolowo, who made this known in a statement signed on his behalf by his Chief Executive Officer, Dipo Oluyomi and Chief Operating Officer, James McGlashan, confirmed that the investment was made seven and a half years ago.
6. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), has withdrew its support for President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
The group accused the President of blackmailing the Niger Delta region.
7. President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to seek the face of God before he makes any further decision about governance in Nigeria.
Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry in Enugu, who gave this counsel, asked Buhari to take action, stating that “many Nigerians are suffering.”
8. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) counterpart, Dr. D.K Olukoya, have released 40 prophecies for the year 2017.
The clerics in separate prophecies predicted that the year 2017 will be a year of painful pleasure for Nigerians.
9. The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Seme Chapter, has begged the Nigerian government to grant a three-month grace period before enforcing the ban on importation of vehicles through land borders.
ANLCA’s Chairman, Alhaji Bisiriyu, who made this plea noted that the grace period will enable ships carrying vehicles, to berth for clearance before implementation of the ban.
10. There are indications that warring couple, Tiwa Savage and TeeBillz are together again.
Sources say the couple was spotted at Stephanie Coker’s wedding last weekend.
