A member of House of Representatives representing Abeokuta North /Obafemi-Owode and Odeda Federal constituency in Ogun State, Micky Kazeem has cautioned the Federal Government over five percent reward it promised those who expose corrupt practices.
The Federal lawmaker stated this in Abeokuta, shortly after he empowered no fewer than 80 aged persons from three local government areas of the state . While speaking on the proposed policy by the Federal Government on whistle blowers, Kazeem said, the Federal Government should first appropriate fund for the policy and get the National Assembly’s nod before promising any whistle blowers of any money.
The Federal Executive
Council few weeks ago announced that five percent of the total sum of money
involved in corrupt practices would be given to anyone who exposes the fraud.
The Federal lawmaker however, said, the National Assembly may not agree with
the executive on the policy until it is appropriated. He then, urged his
colleagues to give back to the constituency, saying, “We need to allow people
of our community to enjoy dividend of democracy. “Dividend of democracy is not
going to come from heaven, it is being done by the people representing certain
constituency.
This is the time we should let the voters enjoy their vote. How
will they enjoy their votes? It is by giving back to them. “This project has
made all aged women and men to come out of the village because most of them
don’t come out of their villages at all, this project is just once in month. “I
made a vow when I was going for the house of representatives that I will be
giving aged people something every month,” he said.
