There was a protest at the University of Jos today following the 100% increase in school fees. According to reports, the protesting students made fire in front of the school gate as they insisted that the school authority must reduce their fees.
The protest actually started on Monday, as the students boycotted their examinations scheduled for this week.
In a statement, the students claimed their fee was suddenly increased from N27,800 to N60,000, adding that they were forced to pay for developmental levy which has never been used for any development within the university.
“All our efforts to speak with the Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Hayward Babale Mafuyai has failed, the VC refused to negotiate with us” the student union government, Bella Alubo, claimed in a statement.
