Mr. Tambuwal was however, forcibly taken into the complex by angry lawmakers who protested the treatment meted out to the Speaker.

Several lawmakers were delayed at the gate for more than an hour while the confusion lasted, including the Senate president, David Mark.
According to a source who spoke to DAILY POST at the National Assembly, the confusion on ground is unbearable. “There is confusion everywhere; people are running helter skelter. Nobody really knows what to do or what the intent is. Journalists had their equipments smashed. It is a terrible situation”.
In a tweet, a former member of the House of Representatives, Dino Melaye said “Speaker walked from second gate to White House. Members broke the second gate, overpower police and brought the speaker in. Tambuwal tear gassed inside NASS”.

It will be recalled that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party and the presidency have been calling for the sack of the Speaker since he dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC, while his security details have since been removed.

The Speaker had on Tuesday sent out a recall notice to members for a Special Plenary to discuss President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for the extension of emergency rule in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.
